St Luke's
Loving Jesus, loving our neighbour
At the heart of the inner city

Working with the Somali Community and the Mosque

So you shall divide this land among you…You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for ‘the strangers’ who reside among you and have begotten children among you. They shall be to you as citizens of Israel…In whatever tribe ‘strangers’ reside, there you shall assign them their inheritance, says the Lord God

Ezekiel 47: 21-23

St Luke’s works closely with the Somali community and the mosque with whom we have good relations. We see it as a gospel imperative to welcome the stranger in our midst and to strive for peace and reconciliation in our community.
We meet regularly at a leadership level with the Somali Resource Centre and the mosque and are planning a number of community events together aimed at breaking down barriers and getting to know each better. We also work together in the local primary school.
